About Me

Most of my memories as a child involve my mother and I around the sewing machine, or elbow deep in some type of craft. Many of my birthday parties involved my friends and I making something (usually Christmas related due to my December birthday!).

As a teenager, I drifted away from the crafting world and immersed myself in playing music. Two degrees later, I am a high school band teacher and flute player. Once I'd gotten settled in the music world, I found that I craved the quiet time of sewing and found myself picking up projects here and there.

Though I'd had lots of time in front of the sewing machine as a child, I never quilted, but always imagined I'd like to! I mentioned this desire in passing to my boyfriend, and for Christmas he bought me the basics to start. Without that push, I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing now!

In teaching and music, very seldom do I have the feeling of something being "finished." In sewing, once you finish a step, it stays done. I love the satisfaction of holding and admiring a completed project in my hands.
